Privacy Policy / Datenschutzerklärung

This site takes privacy seriously. It does not use advertising networks, social media tracking pixels, or third-party analytics. Any analytics (Matomo) is self-hosted and configured to anonymise IP addresses. No personal data is sold or shared with third parties.

2. Hosting and Server Log Files

This site is hosted as a static website. Depending on the hosting provider, server access logs may be recorded automatically. These may include:

IP address of the requesting device (anonymised where possible)
Date and time of access
URL and file name of the requested resource
Referring URL, browser type, and operating system
HTTP status code and bytes transferred

These logs are processed for security and operational purposes only. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in operating a secure and functional website). Logs are deleted after a maximum of 7 days unless a longer retention is required by law.

3. Cookies and Local Storage

This site stores a single entry in your browser's localStorage under the key cookie_accepted to remember that you have acknowledged the cookie notice. This is technically necessary and does not constitute a tracking cookie. No cookies are set by this site itself.

If Matomo analytics is enabled (see Section 4), Matomo may set a first-party cookie (_pk_id, _pk_ses) for session tracking. This data is stored exclusively on the self-hosted Matomo server and is not shared with third parties. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

4. Analytics — Matomo (Self-Hosted)

This site may use Matomo, an open-source web analytics platform, to understand how the site is used. Unlike cloud analytics services, Matomo is self-hosted, meaning all data is stored on a server under the site owner's control and is never shared with third parties.

Matomo is configured with the following privacy measures:

IP addresses are anonymised before storage (last octet removed)
No cross-site tracking
Data is not sold or shared with any third party
Data subject rights can be exercised (see Section 7)

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in understanding site usage to improve it). You can opt out of Matomo tracking by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser settings, or via the opt-out mechanism below if Matomo is active.

5. Google Fonts

This site uses Google Fonts (provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) for typography. When a page loads, your browser requests the fonts directly from Google servers, which may transmit your IP address to Google.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in consistent typography). For more information see Google Privacy Policy.

Alternative: Google Fonts can be replaced by locally hosted fonts to prevent any data transfer to Google. Contact me if you prefer this and I will provide the locally-hosted version.

6. Contact by Email

When you contact me by email, I will store your email address and the content of your message for the purpose of processing your inquiry and any follow-up correspondence. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Data will be deleted once the inquiry has been fully handled, unless a legal obligation to retain it exists.

7. Your Rights under GDPR

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR) — you can request information about data held about you
Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR — "right to be forgotten")
Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)
Right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent

8. No Advertising, No Data Sales, No Social Tracking

This site contains no advertising. No data is sold to or shared with advertising networks, data brokers, or any third party for commercial purposes. No social media tracking pixels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Ads, etc.) are embedded.

9. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated when the site or its technical setup changes. The date at the bottom of this page indicates when it was last revised.
